The journey took so long.
But She's finally here.
No more to wonder.
No more to fear.
A long trip She's made without a mother.
Being 1 for her sister and brother.
Breaking the chain.
Of drugs, violence, and sex.
Having the ability to see what's next.
Finding a bright future.
From such a grim past.
Finally finding a place that wasn't last.
Knowing herself.
Like the back of her hand.
Actually knowing for what She stands.
One stupid boy.
One foolish mistake.
One lesson in love.
You never want to take.
Sparkling green eyes. Curly dark hair.
A heart full of love.
With plenty to spare.
Dark blue eyes.
And a broken smile.
But he fixed it for a while.
Tall, slim, athletic, body.
Cunning with words.
A short, curvy girl.
With the voice of singing birds.
An underlying hope for such a need.
Enticing her eyes with such a story to read.
Not an intimate feeling.
But the world's best friend.
Making you forget reality.
And pretend.
That everything is alright.
And Everything is ok.
Keeping you alive for just one more day.
The sanctitude and shelter of a stable heart.
A character who acted the perfect part.
Making the girl a heaven
Out of the pits of hell.
A love so magical.
That no one could tell.
She would hurt him. And he would let her fall.
It seemed to her she meant nothing at all.
Her heart broke in to pieces.
Like it was before him.
But she couldn't find.
The same healing again.
She felt cast out and neglected.
Fearful and alone.
There was no place she was happy.
No place to call home.
Till one day.
When he just gave in.
Life meant nothing.
He threatened her with his end.
So many visions ran through her head.
But somehow she couldn't imagine him dead.
Her light.
Her trust.
Her hope.
Her love.
Gone.
Just not possible.
Not plausible.
But like he had done for her.
She saved him that day.
There are many places to go.
But she made it clear.
It was not that way.
So they go on in this balance.
Of hope, love, and hurt.
She's still thinks he's her light.
But to him she's lost her worth. She waits patiently for him to make up his mind.
Make a decision.
Or send her a sign.
She waits so much.
She forgets to live her life.
She does nothing but wonder.
Day and night.
She trusted only him.
Now there's only reality.
No pretend.
No pretending it will be alright.
No pretending it will be ok. No one to keep her alive for just one more day.
So if there's a lesson I must preach to you.
Teach to you.
It is:
Don't trust anyone not even if they mean most to you.
Because everyone hurts you.
And everyone forgets you.
Its only if they remember you.
And heal you.
That you'll no they love you.
Very sweet! Good metaphors, imagery, and rhythm as always. I especially enjoy that you told a story via poetry, especially since I've never been able to do such. Nice job!
Oh, my goodness! I thoroughly enjoyed this. You are an awesome writer.
I truly hope you will write more poetry here. I'm so going to read it when you do.
LOve this kayla!
